Women’s soccer enters new era under head coach Gonzalo Rudolf

HIALEAH, Fla. (July 14, 2025) — Florida National University women's soccer has a new face of the program, as Gonzalo Rudolf becomes the school's third-ever head coach. Rudolf moves into his role with Florida National following a successful five-year stretch on the NCAA DII Barry University Buccaneer men's soccer staff.

Rudolf joined the Buccaneer staff in the spring of 2020 and helped lead Barry to an impressive run in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC). Under head coach Petsa Ivanovic, Rudolf and Barry won the SSC regular season championships in back-to-back seasons (2022 and 2023) and made a Final Four appearance in 2022.

In 2023, Rudolf was honored as a member of the Sunshine State Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. Rudolf was instrumental in Barry going 38-30-6 on the pitch with a conference record of 23-12-3 over its past five seasons.

Along with his NCAA DIl resume, Rudolf worked as the head of team coordination and coach for Paris Saint-Germain Academy (2022-2025), Miami Shores Soccer Club (2021) and Cyclone Soccer Hollywood (2017-2021). In the last three years, Rudolf served as the head coach of the United Soccer League's (USL) FC Miami City women's soccer team and as an assistant coach in the organization from 2022 to 2025.

Rudolf was a talented soccer player in his own right, playing collegiately at Faulkner University in 2017 before transferring to Johnson and Wales University for three seasons. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports, Events and Entertainment Management from JWU in 2020.

FNU women's soccer has entered a period of major transition, as Rudolf is the third head coach in as many years. Last season, FNU improved from 0-9-2 in 2023 to 4-7-2 under head coach Ruy Da Silva Castelo Branco.

The team also totaled four USCAA All-Americans in 2024 (Gabriela Bortolon Brito, Hailey Llijin, Bethania Pires da Cruz and Delmis Reyes Amaya) and three All-CAC honorees (Delmis Reyes Amaya, Enma Amaya and Gabriela Bortolon Brito) in the NAIA.
