Baseball dominates Morris Friday

SUMTER, South Carolina (April 4, 2025) — Florida National baseball (18-13) got two more Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) wins, defeating Morris College (1-28) 14-8 and 21-10. In the first two contests of a four-game series in Sumter, South Carolina, FNU totaled two home runs and 27 hits.

In game one, Morris tied FNU with 13 hits but lost the runs race by six. Catcher Cesar Mora came up huge with his second home run of the afternoon, while Christopher Rivera, Roger Viloria and Samuel Del Valle recorded a double. Mora ended the day three-for-three from the batter's box and a team-high four RBIs.

FNU had 12 runs through the first three innings before capping off its win with two more in the fifth. Pitcher and Canadian native Alexis Dubeau was stellar through five innings, picking up six strikeouts for a career total of 50.

Game two was one of FNU's best games on offense in 2025. FNU jumped to a 7-1 lead in the first. They eventually led 16-3 by the third inning. Morris showed some fight with six runs in the bottom of the fourth, yet they were outscored 4-1 through the final three frames.

Shortstop Jason Altuve came alive for three doubles and Fausto Sanchez impressed with the second Conquistador homer of the afternoon. Viloria and Brian Jensen tripled in the victory, and Altuve used his three-for-four afternoon to record a team-high six RBIs.

Pitcher Keorden Leito grabbed his first win of the 2025 season, improving to a 1-1 record on the mound.
