FNU earns split afternoon against the UFTL Eagles

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (April 23, 2025) — Florida National softball (22-25) got some revenge against the top-ranked team in the NCCAA, defeating the University of Fort Lauderdale (32-16) 5-1 after falling in a close 2-1 contest to start the afternoon.

FNU tallied four hits and three errors to start the afternoon with a one-run loss. Alyssa Julien was stout, with the lone RBI of the afternoon, to run in Isabella Silva. Julien also had the best showing from the plate, going two-for-three for her 100th career hit.

Pitcher Sophia White was solid over six innings, allowing just two runs on eight hits. Scores from Katie Adkins and Tatiana Hammock were just enough to get the win on senior day. Cameron Rollison was incredible with a double and two hits on the day to help the Eagles post eight total hits and two errors.

In game two, FNU got some revenge on the top-ranked Eagles. Runs scored by Alissia Vega, Julien, Thanysha Gil and Alyssa Songer were enough to ground UFTL's usually explosive offense. Gil was stellar with a four-for-four game two performance to go along with three hits from Vega.

Pitcher Brunella Beteta recorded the only FNU strikeout of the day and allowed just one run from Adkins.

Up Next: FNU heads to the CAC Tournament on May 1 against Simpson University in Lawrenceville, Ga. The first pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
