FNU outmatched by Bobcats in 4-2 loss

HIALEAH, Fla. (April 11, 2025) — Conquistador women's tennis (3-6) faced another conference setback, dropping a 4-2 match to the No. 16-ranked St. Thomas University Bobcats (8-12). Singles victories by Julia Chodkowska and Celeste Deniz Reyes proved to be the highlight of FNU's afternoon at the Goodlet Tennis Center.

In doubles play, FNU fell behind thanks to losses from pairs Vanessa Simone and Natalia Calvo and Chodkowska and Lavinia Anais Karadža. Simone and Calvo fell 6-2 versus Jenesie Burgos and Lauren Fullerton. Sezin Akin and Caterina Antonini ended this part of the match with their 6-1 rout of Chodkowska and Karadža.

Singles play saw Reyes tie the match with her inspiring win against Antonini in back-to-back 6-3 sets. Chodkowska's win over Lauren Seemann in 6-0, 6-3 fashion gave FNU some hope before STU posted three clutch singles wins to end the match.

Akin posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Alara Juelide Akgul, and Calvo was beaten by Burgos 6-2, 6-0. This is FNU's fourth consecutive loss to STU since the 2021-22 season.
