Tennis usurped by Royals 4-3

HIALEAH, Fla. (March 28, 2025) — Conquistador men's tennis (1-6) faced a tough Sun Conference defeat at the hands of the Warner University Royals (5-6) Friday. Three singles victories at Goodlet Park proved to be insufficient against a resilient Royals squad in Hialeah, Fla.

To start the match, Warner's Carlos Quinones and Enzo Barauna posted a 6-2 win against FNU's Lukas Nico Kopitzki and Mats-Jonathan Werner. Gustavo Masu and Luigi Stefanacci recorded a 6-4 loss in their match to Nikhil Mital and Niklas Huth. 

FNU fell behind 1-0 after both double matches and failed to grab a win in any of the three matches after Daniele Trentin and Alejandro Suarez fell 6-5 to Arthur Fernandes and Luis Rodriguez.

Things turned interesting in singles play after Kopitzki posted a tough 6-3, 6-4 win over Barauna and Suarez dominated Huth 6-3, 6-1. Stefanacci was the last FNU player to post a singles victory, defeating Fernandes 6-4, 6-2. Warner was able to seal the deal with victories from Quinones, Rodriguez and Julio Infante. 

Quinones bested David Santamaria 6-1, 6-0 and Rodriguez got a hard-earned win against Ignacio Acosta 6-3, 6-4. Infante got the best of Werner 6-4, 7-5, as WU took home its second-ever win over Florida National.
