FNU splits final doubleheader at SCG

MELBOURNE, Fla. (March 16, 2025) — Conquistador softball (12-16) caps off its time at the 2025 Space Coast Games with a much-needed 5-2 win against Indiana University at South Bend (4-10). FNU started the afternoon with a less-than-ideal 4-2 loss to the Titans.

Game one saw FNU take a one-score lead in the second inning before Indiana flipped the script with a two-run frame in the fourth. FNU was outscored 2-1 down the stretch, as pitcher Annissa Quinonez was replaced for the final 2.1 innings of the game by Sophia White. White delivered the Conquistadors' only strikeouts of the game, but the Titans held on for their fourth win of 2025.

Madisyn Garduno had the best outing at two for three from the batter's box and Isabella Silva went two for four. Catcher Alyssa Julien tripled in the loss, while Garduno posted a double. FNU tallied six hits and an error. The Titans moved on to game two with seven hits and two errors on the board.

In game two, FNU made some necessary adjustments to take a commanding 4-0 lead through three innings. Brunella Beteta did her job in the circle, posting just one walked batter and allowing two runs on the board. White and Quinonez made an appearance down the stretch to wrap things up in the final 1.2 innings of the victory.

FNU bats also came to life at just the right time, as Yleisha Perez and Silva both tripled in the win. Quinonez recorded a double in a stellar two-for-three performance.

Florida National exited the Space Coast Games 5-9 over its two-week stay.

Up Next: FNU tackles a rematch against the Florida Memorial Lions on March 18 on the road. Game one starts at noon.
