Softball claims second-consecutive 1-1 afternoon on the road

MELBOURNE, Fla. (March 13, 2025) — Florida National (11-11) continues its stay in Splitsville, earning a 4-3 win against Lourdes University (0-6) before falling short in a 6-5 loss in its rematch opposite Defiance College (5-11).

FNU is now 4-4 through eight games at the USSSA Space Coast Games. The Conquistadors totaled 13 hits in both games on March 13, tallying five costly errors in their loss to the Yellow Jackets.

To start the afternoon, Alyssa Julien and Gianna Hall both posted doubles in the Conquistadors' one-run win over Lourdes. FNU posted all six of its runs in the last two innings of the contest, claiming five scores on LU's pitcher, Taylor Leggins. Dual-threat pitcher Annissa Quinonez improved to 3-1 on the year with three strikeouts and just three batters walked.

Against Defiance, Florida National relied heavily on a two-RBI afternoon from Julien. Alissia Vega was also stellar with one RBI despite a 1-4 performance from the batter's box. Julien and Vega joined Ciara Santiago, Carollann McClelland, and Isabella Silva as the only Conquistadors to cross home plate for timely runs in the loss.

Pitcher Brunella Beteta allowed only two earned runs as FNU's defense conceded four on errors. Beteta pitched five strikeouts opposite 30 Yellow Jacket at-bats, walking just two batters in her seventh loss of the 2025 season.

Up Next: Softball faces a quick turnaround with games against Indiana Tech and Aquinas College tomorrow starting at 2:30 p.m.
