Conquistadors face 4-0 setback against Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. (Feb. 18, 2025) — Florida National (0-2) lost a tough match Tuesday against NCAA DII standout Lynn University (4-2). The Conquistadors are now 0-4 overall against the Fighting Knights since February 2022. 

In doubles play, newcomer Julia Chodkowska and veteran Vanessa Simone missed the mark against Lynn's Salma Djoubri and Mariya Vyshkina 6-2. Alara Juelide Akgul and Nadia Abad were handed a 6-0 loss to Kristen Younes and Zofia Podbiol, leaving Natalia Calvo and Fabiola Bsereni's match unfinished. 

With Lynn carrying a 1-0 lead into singles play, Lynn took care of business with two match wins and an unfortunate retirement by Simone. The FNU senior retired from her match against Vyshkina trailing 6-3, 3-0. Chodkowska's 6-2, 6-0 loss to Djoubri made matters worse and Lynn closed the match with Younes's 6-2, 6-3 victory over FNU's Celeste Deniz Reyes.

FNU stands at 0-2 so far this season with the loss and continues to face stout competition in the Florida area as conference play looms in a month.
