Panthers come away with 122-30 win over FNU

MIAMI, Fla. (Dec. 30, 2025) — Women's basketball's (6-6) final contest of the 2025 calendar year saw the Conquistadors drop a 122-30 exhibition to the Florida International University Panthers (7-4). Jaylyn Laguna led the way with eight points as the Conquistadors wrapped up their final NCAA exhibition of the season.

In the first half of this meeting at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center, FNU encountered a tough Panther defense and an even more challenging FIU offense through the first two frames. FNU posted just 14 points, paced by five from Ziul Gonzalez on 2-7 shooting for the freshman guard. Laguna was right behind her teammate with three points on a made shot from long range and FNU performed just 29.4% from the field. FIU, on the flip side, was rolling offensively with 10 different Panthers scoring from all over the court.

Notably, Madison Betancourt-Pina made her debut and got into the box score with one successful shot attempt close to the basket.

Parris Atkins and Adama Badjie Coly led the charge for the home team with 12 and 13 first-half points, respectively. FIU was stout on the glass, with 17 of their 26 rebounds coming on the offensive side of the ball.

FIU's dominance bled into the final two periods, with FNU held to just five points in the third. Kaylee Llanos came to life in the frame with four points in five minutes, and a split performance from the charity stripe by Gonzalez totaled FNU's offense in the quarter. Judit Valero took over scoring duties for the Panthers with 12 impressive points in seven minutes, and FIU tallied 12 steals on 17 FNU third-quarter turnovers. FNU ended the frame down

Florida National entered the fourth trailing 96-19 but managed to post an 11-point frame behind a five-point burst from Laguna. Maria De Gracia Karamanites also had an excellent fourth with four points and four rebounds, ending the afternoon with a team-high seven rebounds.

This was FNU's fourth loss in as many games against Florida International and its second-largest margin of defeat against the Panthers on the road.
