Llanos leads FNU to first win at Bucky Dent Park since Feb. 2024

HIALEAH, Fla. (Nov. 8, 2025) — Kaylee Llanos, the reigning Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Defensive Player of the Week, showed off her offensive prowess with a 30-point performance against the New College of Florida Banyans (1-1). Florida National (2-2) defeated the visiting Banyans, 71-61, leading by as much as 18 in front of a lively crowd at Bucky Dent Park Saturday afternoon.

FNU got off to a slow start to open this non-conference battle in Hialeah, Fla., trailing 15-13 at the end of the first. Every Banyan starter contributed points on the board and NCF shot 2-6 from the three-point line in the period. Ziul Gonzalez posted four points, and Llanos connected FNU's lone three-pointer of the frame. As the game entered the second, FNU used a 27-point tear in the second to enter halftime up 40-26.

Adjustments on defense and finding Llanos' hot hand proved to cure any FNU ailments in the first, as the junior guard added 12 points, three assists and a steal to her total for the afternoon up until that point. Gonzalez played off the attention Llanos drew from the Banyans' defense, tallying eight points, two boards and a steal before both teams headed for the locker room to regroup for the second half.

Notably, FNU forced eight Banyan turnovers in the second and posted no turnovers of their own in the final 10 minutes of the half.

In the third, Llanos picked up right where she left off with nine of FNU's 15 points in the period. Gonzalez fed Llanos on the wing for a pair of assists in the frame, while Maria De Gracia Karamanites used encouragement from her bench for a quick six points in the paint for the 5-10 freshman. NCF hung around with 14 in the third, paced by two clutch threes and eight points from Gwen Tsoukalas.

FNU faced some foul trouble entering and midway through the fourth. De Gracia fouled out of the game, and Llanos played the final stretch of the match with four fouls under her belt. NCF did manage to outscore FNU 21-16 in the final frame, but FNU iced the game on the charity stripe in the closing three minutes of the game. Jaylyn Laguna was a big part of this, going 4-6 from the free-throw line to keep NCF at bay.

De Gracia and Gonzalez joined Llanos in double digits with 10 and 12 points, respectively. Hermione Hicks provided a nice spark off the bench with five points and four boards, an assist and one steal. Jessica Carreras took advantage of some scoring opportunities, going 2-3 from the field for four points in 17 minutes

Up Next: FNU stays home, hosting the Trinity College of Florida Tigers Nov. 15 at 2 p.m.
