FNU falls as Seahawks’ offense soars Wednesday night

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 19, 2025) — Florida National men's basketball (3-3) ran into an offensively stout Keiser University Seahawk (4-1) team Wednesday night, losing 92-57. FNU was paced by 10 points from Ronald Fernandez in 28 minutes from the junior forward.

The early goings of the first half were a heated, competitive struggle for dominance at Massimino Court. Houston Culpepper's layup made it an 11-10 lead for the Seahawks early, as Fernandez was involved early with five points to make it close minutes later on a layup to make it 13-12. This continued as Gary Adams recorded his fifth point of the evening on a tough finish through contact with five minutes remaining to make it a six-point affair before Keiser took off and never looked back.

KU outscored FNU 16-2 in the closing minutes of the half, led by 14 from Loghan Downie and 13 from sharpshooter Nadir Myers. The Seahawks went up 45-25 at the break, shooting 60% from the floor, including six made three pointers. Despite shooting in the low 40s, FNU could not buy a bucket at the end of the period to stop the bleeding and had seven costly turnovers. Keiser moved the ball well, collecting 16 assists as a team and tallying 15 points from their bench.

Notably, Fernandez paced FNU with 10 points and three boards while center Jesus Rivas went into the break with two blocked shots.

Keiser continued to roll in the second, holding FNU scoreless through the first four minutes of the half until transfer Hasmar Francois ended the drought on a made layup. Myers continued to be a problem with eight points in the second half, including two threes in front of the FNU bench. Keiser also did a great job getting to the line as a team, attempting 18 shots from the charity stripe in the second half alone. Downie added four points to his 14 in the first half while Myers ended the night with a team-high 23 points.

Second-chance opportunities for the home team were the name of the game, as KU tallied 11 boards and 16 second-half points to FNU's three offensive boards in the second half. FNU's bench did much of the heavy lifting in the final minutes, as Mekhi Hudson-Dillard and Anthony Salazar combined for 14 of FNU's 32 in the second. Salazar also led the way in the period with three rebounds in 10 minutes.

This was also Serge Beauvoir III's debut in a Conquistador uniform, and the freshman tallied five points on 3-4 shooting from the free-throw line.

Up Next: Men's basketball heads back to West Palm next Monday for a 4 p.m. game at the Keiser University Thanksgiving Classic against the University of the Virgin Islands.
