HIALEAH, Fla. (Oct. 6, 2025) — Conquistador men's soccer (6-2-3) suffered a nail-biting 2-1 loss to the NAIA's No. 6-ranked Keiser University Seahawks (8-0-1) on Monday. This marks the Conquistadors' first loss in 2025 to a ranked opponent and their third loss to Keiser since 2015.
The Conquistadors entered the grass of ArrigoVecellio Field, fresh off an important 2-0 Continental Athletic Conference win over Florida College on Oct. 3, and set their sights on a tough, undefeated Seahawk team on the road just three days later.
FNU fell behind early, conceding an unassisted goal by Mikael Baisotti in the 25th minute, his sixth of the 2025 season. Luckily, former NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week, Filipe Sette Ribeiro, leveled the game with assists from Juan Pugin and Alejandro Octavio Castillo Gados just two minutes later.
What would prove to be the difference in this match was a penalty kick awarded to Baisotti with ten minutes left in the half. The third year forward from Bergen, Norway, converted the attempt, and the Seahawks used this lead to put FNU in the loss column for just the second time this season.
In the first half, FNU totaled two shots to Keiser's nine and added three more attempts in the second. With four minutes left in the match, David Luque Rivero had a good look at an equalizer grabbed by goalkeeper Santiago Nebot. FNU led the corner kick race with six to Keiser's four, and goalkeeper Vitor Caetano Pedrosa had five saves.
