FNU soars past Falcons on the road

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (Oct. 23, 2025) — Florida National men's soccer (9-3-3, 4-1-0) swept its season series against Florida College (6-8-1, 1-3-0), defeating the Falcons 3-1 on Qualls Field Thursday.

It took FNU 14 minutes to break through FC's defense after Filipe Sette Ribeiro used a quick pass from Michael Olszewski for his ninth goal as a Conquistador. The Falcons' luck went from bad to worse after Yao Bleoussi was shown a straight red card about midway through the frame, and FNU took full advantage of a shorthanded FC squad. Ribeiro and Olszewski connected once again with 15 minutes left in the half, as Ribeiro netted the game's second goal off a pass from Olszewski.

To its credit, the Falcons did not let FNU run away with a comfortable victory. Leo Hackett was credited with a 39th-minute stunner to cut FNU's advantage thanks to a crafty pass from Yorgen Torres. FNU entered the break with nine shots and two corners, while Vitor Caetano Pedrosa was good for two saves at the net for the Conquistadors. FC's half came down to six shots, one corner, and a save by starting goalie Filip Borka.

The Conquistadors' second half was highlighted by an unassisted goal from Juan Pugin in the 53rd minute. This sent the Falcons reeling, and they were later forced to make a goalie change with Ahiezer Santiago taking over for Borka in the final 30 minutes.

Despite six shots from Florida College, FNU played the clock brilliantly and protected its lead with two shots and two corners awarded in the period. The Conquistador defense was stout, with Caetano picking up a save and just three FNU fouls called in the period.

FNU is now 9-2-0 against FC since 2015, with a 4-1 record in Temple Terrace, Fla.
