Arnum delivers first Conquistador win in 2024-25

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 27, 2024) — Florida National (1-6) earned an early Thanksgiving gift, defeating the Brewton-Parker College Barons (4-5) 77-74 on the final day of the Keiser University Thanksgiving Classic. Guard Jeremy Arnum posted six unanswered points in the last two minutes to push FNU to its first victory of the season.

Florida National was in a tight battle for most of the game, leading by seven at halftime. Cameron Johnson wasted no time in his return, recording 13 points in 16 minutes. Florida National also saw great production from Caelum Ethridge and Arnum at seven and nine points, respectively. The Conquistadors took care of the basketball and only turned the ball over five times. BPC coughed the ball over 11 times but used 10 points from Jaden Rogers to keep things interesting heading into the second half.

Brewton-Parker hung around for most of the period, taking its first lead on a thunderous dunk by Ferlin Joseph Jr. to make it 61-60. The Barons held on to their advantage for the next six minutes until FNU tied things up on a clutch three from Arnum. The Torrington, Conn., native went on to confidently take the game-winning three with 22 seconds remaining. Ethridge was credited with an assist on both Arnum triples, and Johnson picked up an excellent block in the closing seconds to ice out the Barons in sunny West Palm Beach, Fla.

Notably, Johnson led all scorers with 26 points, while Arnum ended his explosive evening with 20. Ethridge finished the classic with a near double-double after posting 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Up Next: The Conquistadors go head-to-head against Barry on Nov. 20 at 4 p.m.
