TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (Oct. 15, 2024) - Florida National's (4-6-0) head coach Ruy Da Silva Castelo Branco led his team to a 5-1 victory against Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) rival Florida College (4-6-1). This milestone win is Da Silva Castelo Branco's 40th victory as the head of FNU's men's soccer program and improves the Conquistadors to 2-1 in CAC play this season.

FNU took a commanding 2-0 lead in the first half and never let their foot off the gas, posting three more goals in the second. An unassisted score from FC's Austin Black denied goalkeeper Juan Manuel Fermoselle a clean sheet, sending the Argentine home with two saves.

The last time these two Florida teams met, FNU fell 3-2 in a heartbreaking late-night thriller in the FNU Classic at Milander Park. The opening half of this contest, however, saw FNU make sure to put real daylight between them and the Falcons. In the 5th minute, Marcos Bakale grabbed his first goal of 2024 off an assist from Brazilian midfielder Henrique Jordao. Bakale continued to shine with an assist to FNU's leading goalscorer, Filipe Sette Ribeiro, past the halfway mark of the frame.

FNU entered the second half totaling eight shots while allowing two from the Falcons. The Conquistadors also forced a staggering seven corner kicks in the period. Seconds into the final half, Sette Ribeiro grabbed his second goal of the game, followed closely behind by a score from Matias Jaramillo Ospina in the 51st minute.

With the score at 4-0, Black's goal in the 78th was quickly forgotten as Bakale collected his second assist of the afternoon on a leading pass to Patrick De Oliveira Nunes for an 82nd-minute goal to close out the contest. FNU returns to Hialeah, Fla., with a game-high 17 shots taken and eight corners, while the Falcons look to regroup for their next outing after producing just one corner and six shots in their sixth loss of the year.

Up Next: FNU has its second game of the week on the horizon, as Florida Memorial makes the short trip to Milander Park on Oct. 19 at 5 p.m.
