Conquistadors fall 4-0, as Royals come out on top in Lake Wales

LAKE WALES, Fla. (Sept. 29, 2026) — Women's soccer (1-6-1) was unable to come up with answers on offense in a 4-0 loss to the Warner University Royals (7-1-0) on the road. FNU was held to four shots after recording over 60 in last week's win over Florida Polytechnic University.

FNU was originally the host of this head-to-head but had to reschedule due to poor weather at Milander Park on September 10. The Royals proved to be a tough competitor for the red-hot Conquistadors, drawing an uncharacteristic penalty kick in the first ten minutes. Gianna Bellomo stepped up to the marker and was able to put her team ahead against keeper Scarlett Veloza. Warner made it a 2-0 affair with a 25th-minute score from Elisabet Rosario (assisted by Astrid Beckemeier) to highlight a great first half for the home team.

Melina Tideman Gyberg was great in the first half with two of FNU's three shots in the period, evening forcing a save from keeper Haley Van Houweling. The freshman from Oslo, Norway, was unable to stop another two goal half for Warner in the final 12 minutes of play.

Malina Salas orchestrated both goals for the Royals, setting up teammate Hailey Westphal for the second-period brace. FNU ended its sixth loss of 2026 with one corner and 13 saves for Veloza. They are now 1-3-0 against Warner since October 2018.

Up Next: FNU women's soccer meet the Fisher College Falcons at Milander Park this Sunday at 3 p.m.
