Seventy-minute goals secure 4-2 win over Florida College

HIALEAH, Fla. (Oct. 22, 2026) — Men's soccer (9-7-1) ended a three-game losing slump with a dramatic 4-2 win over Florida College (1-13-2) on Saturday. The senior day triumph featured goals from Daniel Patino, Augusto Pugin, Santiago Martinez Gonzalez and Pierrot Mourton.

To open play at Milander Park, the Conquistadors broke the deadlock in the 16th minute, after captain Juan Pugin delivered a touch pass for a Patino strike from well outside the box. This caught keeper Ismael Hererra off guard and sailed right into the goal for the 1-0 FNU lead. With four minutes left in the period, Augusto Pugin took matters into his own hands and danced into the box to put his team up 2-0. FC recorded just three shots in the half, facing a tough challenge against goalkeeper and senior day honoree Vitor Caetano Pedrosa.

During halftime, FNU's seniors, Caetano Pedrosa, Juan Pugin, Diego Alejandro Zogbi Tirado, Denis Silva, Alejandro Octavio Castillo Gados, David Luque Rivero and Fabio Andres Lozano Aguirre were accompanied by their parents, teammates and friends in recognition of their time as Conquistadors.

When play resumed, FC was able to battle its way back into contention with a 53rd-minute score from veteran forward John Solis. Twelve minutes later, Timothy Kovacs leveled the match with a shocking goal assisted by Samuel Bedoya Gomez. FNU quickly made adjustments with six quick subs to get fresh legs out on the field. This seemed to do the trick, as Martinez used a deflected save from Hererra to bury the third FNU score of the match. FNU secured its fourth conference win thanks to a stellar long-range goal from the Frenchman Mourton off a free kick in the 73rd.

FNU played a clean game with no yellow or red cards, forcing 10 corner kicks to the Falcons' six.
