Women’s soccer scores second consecutive win over a conference rival

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (Oct. 10, 2026) — Conquistador women's soccer (3-6-1) earned its third victory in a dominant 3-0 showing over the Florida College Falcons (1-11-0), Saturday. The Conquistadors used goals by Maria Franca, Luiza Ferreira and Julieta Stradella to best FC on the road.

This was Florida National's tenth meeting all-time against Florida College, with FC suffering a 2-1 loss in its most recent matchup in 2024. The Conquistadors could not have had a better start to this match, scoring their first of three goals in the 19th minute of play. Alba Sanchez assisted Franca's opening goal, and Ferreira made it 2-0 in the 28th minute. Ferreira's second goal of 2026 was assisted by leading scorer Latyfath Ubeda, and the sophomore from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, connected on her second goal in as many matches.

With 13 minutes left to play in the first period, FNU put real daylight between themselves and Florida College. Stradella buried a great pass by Mette Battling past the arms of goalkeeper Darcy Pittman, as FNU entered the break with 13 shots to the Falcons two. Florida National was also responsible for the only two corner kicks drawn in the first 45 minutes of action.

The second half was a bit more tense in the middle of the pitch, as Natalya Paula and Sara Borges Rodrigues were both shown yellow cards in the final 20 minutes of the match. Despite a strong lead, FNU continued to attack and ended the night with 25 total shots while the Falcons settled for four shots (none on goal). Pittman had a nice night with eight saves, while FNU's Scarlett Veloza kept a clean sheet with no saves needed.

The Conquistadors are now 7-3-0 against the Falcons since 2018 and move to 2-0-0 against Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) schools in 2026.
