Women’s basketball beaten on the glass in loss to Haskell

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Jan. 31, 2026) — Florida National (10-11) allowed 35 rebounds from Haskell Indian Nations University (11-15) in a 93-73 loss Saturday. FNU exits the University of Fort Lauderdale Classic at 1-1, behind a 22-point morning from game-one hero Kaylee Llanos.

To open this Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) rematch, Haskell and FNU ended the opening period deadlocked at 26. Llanos was critical to FNU's early success, posting a 14-point quarter on a perfect 5-5 performance from the floor. Center Karla Quintero was involved in the first with four points, trailing a five-point first period from Ziul Gonzalez.

Haskell's Ona Dauphinais was special early on with 16 against a tough FNU defense, while Ivy Fox continued her solid play underneath the basket for six points heading into the second. Haskell's offense continued to roll in before halftime, and they outscored FNU 23-15 on 55.6% shooting. FNU shot just 4-13 but still saw 12 combined points from Llanos and Gonzalez that kept HINU within reach.

The second half saw steady domination from Haskell counter all of FNU's adjustments in the last two frames. The Conquistadors were held to 12 points in the third and allowed six points from Fox and five rebounds by Jazlynn Nosie. In the final quarter, Haskell outrebounded FNU 15-3 to go on a 27-20 run for its tenth win of the season. Notably, Jessica Carreras used eight minutes in the fourth for a stellar eight-point period and contributed on defense by forcing a turnover and a steal.

Along with another impressive outing for Llanos, Gonzalez was two rebounds shy of a double-double after dropping 14 points in 36 minutes. Forward Maria De Gracia Karamanites had a busy morning and headed home with 13 points, five steals and five rebounds.
