Conquistador volleyball swept in Bayshore Gardens

BAYSHORE GARDENS, Fla. (Sept. 6, 2025) — Florida National volleyball (6-9) dropped back-to-back matches to the New College of Florida Banyans (5-1), falling 3-0 Saturday. Despite a late cancellation against Ave Maria University, FNU produced a close second set before dropping to 0-2 in its series against the Mighty Banyans.

In set one, the Conquistadors allowed 12 Banyan kills and produced just four on offense. Wiktoria Telecka's three successful attacks and back-to-back kills from Jayleen Santiago at the tail end of the frame helped NCF claim the set 25-10. Chriselle Ferdinand had all four of FNU's kills in the opener, but an attacking error from the freshman gave NCF the 1-0 advantage.

FNU produced a thrilling second set, coming up short 29-27 with Ferdinand leading the charge with another four-kill performance. Abigail Willis was a huge part of NCF's run during that stretch with five successful attempts, and Kitula Amaya Morales came alive for five kills despite falling 2-0.

NCF finished off its fifth win of 2025 thanks to an early 13-8 lead after a kill from Telecka. A 12-7 run was all the Banyans needed to send FNU back to Hialeah, Fla., after three sets. Notably, Ariana Long had three kills and 23 digs while Ivette Sandoval had 16 assists. Ferdinand and Morales combined for 20 of FNU's 26 kills in the match.

FNU is now 1-5 against Sun Conference schools in 2025.

Up Next: The Conquistadors take a week break before hosting The Sun Conference's Webber International University Warriors Sept. 17.
