Conquistadors fall to No. 1 Keiser on Senior Day

HIALEAH, Fla. (April 12, 2025) — FNU women's tennis (3-7) met its match with a 4-0 loss to the NAIA's No. 1-ranked Keiser University (18-2). The Seahawks were recently crowned regular-season champions of The Sun Conference and handed FNU its second-consecutive loss in as many meetings.

Doubles play was a dominant showing for the visiting team at Goodlet Park. FNU's Vanessa Simone and Celeste Deniz Reyes were defeated by KU's Liza Velykorodna and Vanja Vidanovic 6-1. Alara Juelide Akgul and Nadia Abad faced a similar fate versus Isabella Mercante and Eloise de Mooij 6-2 to put Keiser ahead 1-0.

Julia Chodkowska and Lavinia Anais Karadža's match against Violet Apisah and Patricia Apisah was unfinished at 5-2.

In singles play, the Conquistadors suffered three quick losses to dash their hopes of a late comeback win. Mercante bested Akgul in back-to-back 6-1 sets, and Abad was left scoreless in a 6-0, 6-0 defeat at the hands of Eloise de Mooij.

Chodkowska had the best afternoon for FNU before succumbing to Apisah 6-2, 6-0.

Up Next: NCAA DII Nova Southeastern is the Conquistadors' final regular-season contest. FNU will play in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on April 17 at 2 p.m.
