Conquistadors stung by SCAD Savannah 4-1

SAVANNAH, Ga. (March 21, 2025) — Conquistador women's tennis (1-4) dropped to 1-1 in Sun Conference play, losing to the No. 11 SCAD Savannah Bees (8-6) 4-1 Friday. A singles victory by freshman Lavinia Anais Karadža helped FNU avoid a sweep at the Bacon Park Tennis Courts.

At the start of the match, Nadia Abad and Alara Juelide Akgul combined their efforts for a less-than-ideal 6-2 loss opposite Lisa Konrad and Yue Yu. Karadža and Celeste Deniz Reyes were unable to leave the Bees off the board, dropping their match to SCAD pair Cherry Xiang and Francina Puig Llompart, 6-1.

With a 1-0 lead, SCAD solidified its dominance when singles play rolled along. Deniz Reyes fell 6-0, 6-1 to Yu and Abad had no better luck against Llompart in her 6-1, 6-1 loss. Konrad bested Akgul 6-3, 6-0 to wrap things up in SCAD's second Sun Conference win of the season.

Before the victory was official, Karadža did some damage with a stellar 7-5, 6-0 triumph over SCAD's Ava Goto. This is FNU's second loss to SCAD in program history, its first coming last year in a 4-0 rout at Goodlet Park.
