Johnson and FNU uproot Banyans in 110-100 triumph on the road

BRADENTON, Fla. (Dec. 6, 2025) — Men's basketball (4-5) executed a clutch second half to close out a competitive 110-100 win opposite the New College of Florida Banyans (4-5). Cameron Johnson's second game in 2025-26 was particularly special, as the senior led the way with 27 points in 19 minutes off the bench.

In the first half, both teams were equally matched on both sides of the court. FNU ended the first up 49-48, paced by 14 from Gary Adams. The senior recorded another strong first half on 4-7 shooting, nabbing four steals and a pair of dimes in the period. Johnson started the game efficiently with even quick points in eight minutes, while center Jesus Rivas impressed with nine points and three rebounds off the bench.

NCF's first 20 minutes of play were highlighted by a combined 22 points from Diego Eslava and Shawn Lefresne. Giovanni Toscanini was also clutch with eight on 4-5 shooting against a tough FNU defense that recorded eight steals.

When play picked up in the second, the Conquistadors outscored NCF 61-52 thanks to double-digit halves from Adams, Ronald Fernandez and Hasmar Francois. Johnson went on a special run as well, with 20 in the final half to keep the Banyans at bay in front of their home crowd. Free throws became especially critical in the final few minutes, as FNU went 16-20 from the charity stripe. Johnson's seventh and eighth converted free throws of the afternoon were the finishing touches on a much-needed win for the Conquistadors.

Along with Johnson's 27, Fernandez and Rivas lead the way on the glass with seven rebounds. Francois ended a great night with 15 points, five boards and four assists.

Up Next: FNU has its final exhibition of 2025-26 next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
