Chanel Davila became the third head women’s basketball coach for the Conquistadors in May 2025. The Miami, Fla., native is also the first woman to hold the post, bringing with her an accomplished resume as a high school coach in South Florida.

Davila is no stranger to history, leading Miami Christian School to consecutive FHSAA State Championships in 2021 and 2022. Davila built and created a culture of success with Miami Christian over six years, winning five district championships, three regional championships, and two runner-up finishes at the regional level. Additionally, the Victors and Davila had a state championship final four appearance in 2024.

She is a back-to-back Florida Farmer’s 2A Coach of the Year (2021 and 2022), and the Miami Herald named Davila Coach of the Year during her two successful campaigns in Lakeland, Fla. Along with earning the Victors their first-ever title in girls basketball, Davila prepared players for success at multiple NAIA, JUCO, and NCAA DI and DII institutions.

Before building her program from the ground up at Miami Christian, Davila spent three seasons at Mater Academy Charter High School as an assistant coach. Davila’s training and coaching tactics helped the Lions take home three district championships and land their first regional semi-final appearance in the 2017-2018 season.

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) circuit is also an arena where Davila made a name for herself. In 2021, she led the 17U Team Knight to a 19-13 record. Davila helped gain national exposure for various players at the Adidas Gauntlet with Team Knight. After a short hiatus, Davila returned to AAU ball as the coach of the Miami Impact / Miami Suns 17U team in 2025.

Before heading to Florida National, Davila picked up college coaching experience as an assistant for the Florida Palms University men’s basketball team in 2022-2023. Her day-to-day sessions included running practices for both the varsity and junior varsity squads, reviewing game statistics and breaking down film. Davila’s hard work contributed to an Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (IJCAA) Championship for the FPU Owls in 2023.

Davila is a former women’s basketball player at Florida International University (2007-2008), where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Management as a double major.
