Conquistadors exit CAC Tournament after 6-0 loss to No. 24 GGC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (Nov. 9, 2025) — Florida National's (3-8-1) 2025 season came to a close Sunday morning, as the Conquistadors lost to No. 24 Georgia Gwinnett College (9-5-5), 6-0 in the semifinal round of the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Tournament.

In the first half of this conference battle, FNU looked to shake off a 12-0 regular season loss suffered at the hands of the Grizzlies last month. Unfortunately, it took only three minutes for the Grizzlies to get on the board using an unassisted goal from Kendra Delgado to break the 0-0 deadlock. Four minutes later, Delgado and Grace Clark set up Christy Noble's fourth goal of the season to double the home team's advantage.

GGC's offense continued to turn out goals in the 13th with CAC Player of the Year Barbora Kadlecova getting in on the action, assisted by Hannah Lorenz. Before the half was over, Lorenz made it a 4-0 affair with her sixth goal of 2025. FNU was held to no shots in the opening half while GGC managed 11. Goalkeeper Andrea Oropeza had a busy opening period with four saves, and FNU looked to see what adjustments could be made during the break.

In the second, FNU's offense picked up with a pair of shots from game-one hero Latyfath Ubeda, but both attempts missed the mark. Delmis Reyes Amaya, Gabriela Bortolon and Ellen Meijer put up a solid run of shot attempts in the 57th and 59th that were either blocked, went wide right, or scooped up by GGC goalie Svenja Hoppe.

As GGC's defense denied FNU scoring opportunities, its offense continued to be relentless. The Grizzlies added a pair of goals from Gabby Stone to put their final touches on their ninth win of the season.

Oropeza ended her final match of her sophomore season with nine saves. Notably, senior Enma Amaya took her final bow in Conquistador uniform.
