Conquistadors come up short against No. 25 GGC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (Oct. 18, 2025) — Florida National women's soccer (1-6-1, 1-2-0) was outmatched by a tough, top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzlies (8-5-3, 2-0-0) team in The Peach State. No. 25-ranked GGC's 12-0 win is the largest victory for the Grizzlies this season and its first against the Conquistadors.

FNU came into this battle after defeating Carolina University 5-2 on Oct. 16, and GGC also bested the Bruins in a less dramatic 7-0 triumph on Friday. In the first half, FNU had a rough go at it after conceding a fourth-minute goal to Grizzly Christy Noble. This was the tip of the iceberg, as the Grizzlies went on to score their second goal of the afternoon ten minutes later on an unassisted shot by Jade Perrin.

What ensued was a 6-0 scoring run by the GGC, including goals by Samara Dullabh, Hannah Lorenz, Alliyah Rosales, Rikke Steenhold and Kathrine Lindenber. The Grizzlies' offense was in a frenzy, tallying 18 shots in the first half alone. The home team was also credited with all four of the corner kicks awarded in the first half.

FNU did manage to post five shot attempts in the opening 45 from Delmis Reyes Amaya (2), Latyfath Ubeda (2) and Magdalena Bigdon (1). Bigdon's attempt hit the crossbar while Reyes and Ubeda forced a pair of saves by goalkeeper Rirei Sasaki.

After a quick halftime, FNU faced a 9-0 hole after Nicole Mares Rivera netted her first goal of the season four minutes into the period. GGC's Salome Deneubourg put her team up by double digits with her goal assisted by Nova Eskelinen in the 72nd. Kendra Delgado and Gabby Stone were credited with the final two goals of the contest, and GGC ended the game with 13 assists and 12 different scorers.

FNU's second half was highlighted by a shot attempt by Bigdon that was quickly snatched by the second-half Grizzly goalie, Svenja Hoppe. Ubeda and Natalya Paula picked up yellow cards in the second half for FNU's only fouls of the period, and FNU forced no Conquistador corner kicks before the final whistle blew in Lawrenceville, Ga.
